bitFlyer to Allow Large Bitcoin Payments for Luxury Cars
Japan's largest cryptocurrency exchange has just partnered with L'Operaio, a high-end Japanese car dealership, to allow large-scale Bitcoin payments. In an announcement from bitFlyer, the initial roll out will be available in three L'Operaio dealerships: L'Operaio Setagaya, L'Operaio Nerima and L'Operaio Aoyama.
This type of partnership is nothing new to bitFlyer, as they have already established payment options with other Japanese retailers like, Bic Camera, select branches of Yamada Denki and one location of the department store, Marui, as reported by Coindesk. What sets this deal apart from the others is the amount of Bitcoin approved for payment.
Previous deals were capped at between $900 - $2,760 USD, but the new deal allows for much higher amounts, as would be expected for the purchase of an expensive, high-end luxury vehicle. L'Operaio customers will be able to spend up to $100 million yen ($1 million USD) using Bitcoin for the purchase of a new or used vehicle.
This is an exciting move by the Japanese car dealer, bitFlyer makes use of a mobile wallet, which means purchasing a rare gull-wing AMG, could be done with a mere touch of a button.
