Why the Bitcoin Twitter account is now restricted
BCH Deception Exposed by Twitter
Log onto Twitter today and you, at least temporarily, will notice the @Bitcoin account is showing a warning message that says the account is temporarily restricted. Usually this type of warning message is put on accounts that have been flagged for suspicious activity, spam, hate speech or misleading tactics.
Recently, there has been a great deal of scrutiny launched at Jack Dorsey and Twitter as a company for letting spam nearly ruin the Crypto twitter experience. Promises of airdropping 'free' crypto if you send a little to an address after nearly any posts from an authoritative figure has created a sespool of comments after every tweet. On multiple occasions this has led Jack Dorsey himself to aknowledge it's a problem and they are heightening their response.
This brings us back to the @Bitcoin twitter account. Up until early January of 2018, the @Bitcoin Twitter account only occassionally tweeted links with an open agenda and highlighting general news related to Bitcoin. That all changed on January 2nd, 2018, when Roger Ver and his team of Bitcoin Cash acolytes started linking to multiple articles on Ver's website per day. And later that week the account began the campaign to flood the timeline with Tweets about how BCH is the real Bitcoin. And it hasn't stopped since.
For seasoned crypto professionals this was immediately sniffed out, as Ver's intentions are well known throughout the crypto community. But it's interesting to see the account get restricted just as Jack Dorsey and Twitter promises more oversight.
It's clear the account is guilty of a targeted attempt to mislead, which is a clear violation of Twitter's policies. Twitter has spoken for now, and the message is clear. Bitcoin Cash is NOT Bitcoin.
